The Washington Post should stick with writing fiction!

Recent articles, published by the likes of the Washington Post, concerning Global Warming caused by CO2 levels have caused me to laugh out loud on more than one occasion! (While it is true that carbon dioxide levels are rising a tad, that is not a bad thing! It's actually a good thing as those self same levels have been increasing the total biomass on the earth at a rate of 5% per decades)! What that means to us is more growing opportunities for agriculture over longer periods of time at higher latitudes! With the resultant excess foods being used to feed a hungry world at cheaper prices.

Something we really do need to become aware of would be Global Cooling. That would not be a good thing for the over seven billion people walking around as of this post! (Any form of Ice Age would be catastrophic for all involved with large scale forces at play that could make that occur being many and varied. Please check out an earlier post titled; The SPC theory of a trigger for the next ice age)!

In another well written article put out by the Learning-Mind.com, the forces I had listed in my article, (CO2 and solar insolence) can work with synergistically other 'forces' that can and do affect our climate, both in the short term and long term:
  • Precessional or wobbling motion of the Earth’s axis
  • Ellipticity change of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun (change of eccentricity)
  • Tilt change of the Earth’s rotation axis
  • Perihelion change of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun
  • Change in orbital inclination of the Earth
As if that were not an impressive enough list, there is always the potential for seismic plate activity including vulcanism that can and does release very large amounts of various gasses such as carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, hydrochloric acid and carbon monoxide. It should be noted that many of these so-called 'forces of Nature' tend to lean the planet in the direction of cooling, not warming.

Sadly, the drivel being put out by Left-leaning media outlets like the Washington Post are done solely to push a Progressive narrative onto the masses ( in my view) and really have nothing to do with any actual science.

The ultimate horrors of Global Warming!

Forsyth MO. – It was February the 15th in 2018 at 7:30 AM in the morning that I happened to glance at the outdoor thermometer and could not believe my eyes! Sixty seven degrees! I stopped eating my breakfast and ran right to the phone to call the local Chapter of the DNC.

I got a hold of someone named Phil who heard my tearful report and who also conferred with me that, yes indeed, it sounded as though GW (their progressive abbreviation for Global Warming) was in point of fact happening! He urged me to remain calm! Then, after confirming my membership status as a dyed in the wool Democrat, he then launched into a ten minute rant as to how GW was the fault of the Republicans and of Donald Trump in particular. (I listened with rapt attention and even took down a few notes). He finished by promising that, 'when we retake our rightful control of the Capitol come 2020, some sweeping and stringent (and very expensive) reforms would be swiftly put into place'. (Before hanging up we both then reaffirmed our total allegiance to Hillary and then preformed a very secret Party salute that involved grabbing our balls until they hurt).

I have to admit, to my readership that after talking to Phil, I did venture outside to wander around a bit in the warmth that was GW. (The air had a strangely poignant smell to it and you could almost hear the stirring of life in the plants as they tried to awaken into a false spring). Then suddenly, out of nowhere, a cockroach skittered across one of my shoes! I was aghast! (One of my many Democratic buddies had shared with me, some time before, that one of the effects of the early warming would be an explosion of the insect populations and in particular that of roaches)! Damn those Republicans, I thought!

I then took it upon myself to compile a list of some of the scientific fact-based horrors (as reported by CNN), that await planet earth, should we allow GW to continue:

  1. Early warming will cause an vast increase in the insect population which will cause the planet to become out of balance due to the excess mass and could then cause it to fall into the sun.
  1. GW will result in much warmer summers and that will encourage young people to begin taking off their clothes and rutting like there was no tomorrow. God would become very offended and would then toss the planet right into the sun!

  2. Increased carbon dioxide will cause plant life, crops and fruit trees to overproduce! This will tire them out and soon they could stop producing. Mass die offs of people would then occur and that darn old insect problem would get much worst – Well, I'm afraid it's number one all over again!

  3. As the planet continued to warm, Canada would begin to look better and better to US farmers and most would then move up there leaving the rest of us dealing with a great dust bowl. All those millions of farmers suddenly moving north along with all those insects which would then cause number one to also occur but, with a twist. You'd have millions of naked farmers humping each other right on top of billions of fornicating insects. The horror of that thought!

  4. Lastly, as GW continued in to ramp up in earnest, and assuming that we hadn't been thrown into the sun by some miracle, the entire population of the earth would at some critical point likely panic and stampede to both poles in search of cooler temps. Now should that occur, we would not fall into the sun. No sir. Our orbit would be changed in such a manner that we would all plummet into Uranus!
It is for the above reasons, that we must elect the Democratic Party so that they can impose drastic and very stringent regulations on all Americans to bring down the CO2 levels to about zero. (I'm told that could take awhile, say about two million years). But, just imagine, all that time under the fair, politically equal and oh so progressive smothering of people like Chuck Schumer and his descendants!

Our Wheel of Destiny!

Even as many environmentalists today raise strident voices over concerns of global warming, a few little people such as myself embrace the concept wholeheartedly! You see, it takes money to heat ones home in the winter where I live. And, if the winters are getting milder due to all the carbon we humans are throwing into the air, I can live with that. 'Let the coal-fired plants rage full force', I would shout!

After all, it's a no-win situation that humanity now finds itself in, anyway. Even though America has made great strides in improving its air quality, other countries, like China and India with their billions of citizens have quickly erased any progress we've made. (And, with new coal-fired electric plants coming on line almost weekly, don't expect to see much in the way of improvement). Meanwhile, Third World countries are slashing our world's rain forests and burning them just as fast as they can go! (And, when they're not doing that, they're copulating like crazy making about 358,000 babies each day)! Even with those who die (about 155,000 each day), we're still on a pretty steep growth curve!

So, rather than having a conniption fit over global warming, forgive me if I am focusing on other factors that could well see the extinction of not only Western Civilization but even of mankind itself!

On Global Warming and why we are so screwed!

“Global Warming is real! Its here now and its increasing at an alarming rate! The question is does anyone really care?”

I’m not sure where I saw that quote. But, to me it defines the real issue concerning the future of our species. Ask yourself this question. Does the average Joe on the street really care about CO2 emissions? Does he often get into heated conversations concerning methane levels at the office during a break? No, he or she doesn’t and that begs the question. Who really cares? I suppose some could point to their governments. Surely they would care. But, let me ask you this. If you ran a government that overindulged in the consumption of the planets resources, would you want to tell your people to cut back? (Good luck surviving your next election, fixed or otherwise). On the other hand, if you were the leader of an emerging nation that was just beginning to savor the offerings on the technological table what would be your stance? How would you feel about your relatively meager material resource consumption? Entitled I would venture to guess. So there it is. The ‘haves’ want to keep on having and the ‘have-nots’ want their fair share and no one in authority is going to tell them otherwise. Not a story with a happy ending I fear.

The real driving force behind most of the world’s problems is in plain sight for all to see. It’s us. There are simply too many of us running around the planet, consuming, defecating, reproducing and literally making more us’s all the time. Today Mother Earth is supporting about seven billion mouths which need to be fed each and every day. Right this moment, the balancing act to accomplish that feat of engineering is growing precarious to say the least. All that’s missing, for a true global disaster, is for something to go wrong and mass starvation could quickly become a reality. Some trigger to set things on a course to damnation....

[I'm thinking hard]

Let me see... What could upset the current balance or status quo? Wait a minute! Why yes, climate change could just be that trigger. Even as I write this post, America (a civilization that has it pretty darn good compared to the rest of the world), is facing new challenges to keep just three hundred million fed in a reasonable way. Have ya been to Texas lately? In addition, world wide drought has taken a serious hold in areas that used to be reliable producers of food for the world. No more. Other locals like Mexico and Eastern Africa are in the midst of the worst drought in over sixty years! Millions are starving in Somalia and millions more have picked up their belongings to do the one thing they can do for survival…move!

Make no mistake. I’m as optimistic as the next person and I know my country has a can-do attitude. It’s just that the problems we face are huge and, like the National Debt, aren’t going anywhere soon. If history is any example, it will take a huge disaster to finally get us moving on the right track. Then, just maybe, can-do will become will-do.

Waiting on the last turn of the dial for planet Earth!

Somewhere deep in the bowels of the earth, there stands a man who is reaching for a dial that unlocks the safe of global disaster. Only he doesn’t know that. He thinks that ‘change’ is actually good for his planet. So, without further thought, he turns the dial to the first number:

2 – The amount representing the amount of carbon released to the atmosphere in 2005 when drought conditions in the Amazon Rain Forest caused the world’s largest carbon sink to reverse itself and release 2 billion pounds of CO2 into the atmosphere. KLUNK – the first tumbler falls into place.

1361 – The new solar constant which is reduced from it former strength. The sun is going towards a thirty year long solar minimum. KLUNK – the second tumbler falls.

388.92 – The number in parts per million of CO2 that are in earths atmosphere. A number higher than at any time in the last half million years. KLUNK – The third tumbler locks solidly into position.

20 – The number of feet the oceans would rise if the ice on Greenland melts, which it is. An event that could disrupt the deep thermohaline layer in the ocean and trigger another ice age. KLUNK – The fourth tumbler is in place.

Now, there is but one more number to be turned. No one knows what that number is…yet!

Random thoughts about hot issues in May!

Ron Paul launches 2012 presidential run!

Ron Paul is set to try and become president for the third time. Let’s hope that will be a charm for him. This seventy five year old congressman from the great state of Texas is widely known for his desire to severely limit the reach of the federal government. The man known as "Dr. No" for his enthusiasm for bashing runaway spending and government overreach certainly has my vote. The time is way past to make an accounting of government corruption and overspending. While I do not fully endorse either party, I do endorse this man.

It’s grilling time and that’s just fine with me!

Down here in southwest Missouri the weather is heating up. Woo Woo! It’s mid May and summer is now just a month away. That means outdoor activities will be on the upswing as the weather warms (and maybe gets a bit drier). My personal focus, this time of year, usually centers on the charcoal grill and some of the great food that will come off it.

One of my absolute favs is barbecued chicken legs. There nothing quite like the smell and taste of freshly grilled chicken in the summertime. (Give me a piece of good chicken, a baked potato and a garden salad and I’m ready for anything)! When I’m not doing the leg thing, I’m into shish kabobs using fresh fruit, veggies and chicken of course!

Only a decade or so ago, chicken was considered a very economical meat to eat.  I can remember buying who fryers for just twenty nine cents a pound. (Today, the cost is closer to $1.50 or more! That being the case, I now look for ways to ‘stretch the meat’ and save a little on cost. I accomplish that in two ways; I wait for bulk chicken to go on sale and I limit my intake of chicken by adding more veggies. (Something that’s also a lot healthier for me in the long run).

Global warming or global cooling. Which is it Al?

Someone go out and dig up Al Gore please. I need to ask him to go and get his charts so he can explain the recent wacky weather events here in the US. Al baby, tell me again that things really are going to hell in a hand basket. (It’s not like I didn’t already know, I just want to hear him say it again).

What’s been happening in my mind is not so much the weather trends as it seems to be the weather extremes. First, we have a national drought that lasts for much of 2010, and then we get way too much water early in 2011. Yet, I’ll wager the average rainfall, by the end of the year, will be close to normal! (Can’t someone call Mother Nature and tell her to ‘spread it out a bit more’)?
